The blackvue dashcam is probably the best dashcam option I have personally found. I first was recommended this dashcam by a friend who was running the same setup in his Audi R8. This dashcam shoots in 4K, has a wide front and rear view and also records audio. All of which are imperative when collecting evidence at the time of an accident. Blackvue also has an app that you download to your phone, you then connect via Wifi and can download the footage right then and there. This makes is very simple to get ahold of your footage quickly. I also opted for the power pack, this uses an external battery while my car is off (in parking mode) so I am not sucking battery from the car itself. While driving, the car will recharge the power pack so the next time you park your car, the cameras stay rolling.

You can buy the dashcam HERE. If you would like to save yourself 10% off, use “ThicF30” at checkout.

Here are the blackvue products I am running on my F30:

Here are the tools we will need to perform the install:

First step, unbox everything and lay it out in front of you. This helps keep the install organized.

First, lets go ahead and mount the powerpack. For this application, I mounted the powerpack underneath the glove compartment. There is also a 12v power outlet under there. So this makes for easy access to send power to my power pack. We will need to use adhesive velctro and a couple of tiny screws here to fasten the power pack clip.

Next, we can mount the front camera. Expose the 3m tape and align the front camera just underneath the rear view mirror. Ive found that doing this from the driver’s seat works best.

Next we are going to run the power pack wire from the front camera down to the power pack. You will want to tuck the wire into the headliner, over to the pillar, down the pillar through the plastic cover on the side of the glove compartment and finally underneath the glove compartment so we can connect into the power pack.

If you need help keeping the wires tucked into the headliner, use these little 3m adhesive clips that come in the blackvue package. They are fantastic.

Your rear camera will be powered by your front camera, run the cable that connects from the front to the rear. To do this, you will want to follow the headliner, through the side pillar, into the weatherstripping all of the way to the back headliner and finally into your rear camera. Sounds complex, it really isn’t. Once you have both cameras connected, you are set.

That is it, connect your battery. Download the blackvue app and read into the manual for all of the features (There are a ton)
